The Invisible Project

Socio-educational project with collection of books for women inmates of the Badajoz prison

How many women have been highlighted in the story? How many have remained anonymous and are only known by some older people in your population? There are some books that highlight the figure of some women from Extremadura, women who have excelled as writers, politicians, artists ... but they are many, and of vital importance to the society where they resided, which have been almost forgotten. the society in general, being remembered by few / as locals / as.

Spain is the country of the European Union with the highest rate of women in prison. In Spanish prisons there are about 5,130 prisoners, only 7.81% of the entire prison population. In comparison with the number of men (about 60,529 convicted, 92.29%), women are a minority.

We will present the project Las Invisibles in the Cultural Room of El Corte Inglés on February 7th at 8:00 pm, 6th floor of the Conquistadores Center in Badajoz, where we will be accompanied by some writers.

The project "The Invisibles" aims to be much more than the donation of books, we want that the experience that they have had to live women prisoners of the penitentiary center of Badajoz can be taken advantage of to give a turn in their lives. For this we have prepared a series of workshops thanks to the primary collaboration of many entities and people, but this is certainly not all, since this project is open for any person or entity that wants to participate and contribute their bit to do so. :
1.- Reading Workshop: Reading contributes to the training of the people who exercise it, but it is also an important weapon that will allow women in the penitentiary center of Badajoz to escape from day to day. This workshop will be taught by Professor Francisco Domínguez of the IES Teacher Domingo Cáceres de Badajoz.
2.- Creative Writing Workshop: Creative writing workshops are laboratories of literary creation, spaces of exchange where doubts are solved, insecurities are filed and one learns to tame the ego. They are corners where the echo of our writing resounds in others, where, finally, you meet others, with whom to share your passion or hobby, but also their anguish and your obsessions, those of each and every one. This workshop will be taught by the writer Miguel Ángel de la Cruz.
3.- Educational Reinforcement Workshop: Many of the women prisoners lack the necessary studies that allow them to find a job opportunity to rebuild their lives and those of their families. Through this workshop we want to offer a reinforcement to the great work that is carried out within the penitentiary institutions to get many of them to obtain the necessary certificates. This workshop will be taught by Professor Francisco Dominguez.
4.- Self-knowledge Techniques Workshop: Many of the women who are in the penitentiary center of Badajoz are not aware of their worth. It is important for them to teach them to know themselves for real, without self-deception and in this way have a real control over themselves. This workshop will be taught by the ALMA Association team, led by social educator Soledad Romero.
5.- Emotional Intelligence Workshop: Understanding the feelings, talking about them, managing them, are some of the biggest challenges that people face. Through this workshop we want to teach them to create the right climate to facilitate their relationships in the current situation they are in and when they finish their sentence, strengthen their capacity for relationship, communication and influence, enhance their ability to avoid conflicts, etc. . This workshop will be taught by the equality techniques Corinne Martínez and Pamela Candia.
6.- Theater Workshop: In addition to being a way to entertain, this workshop will improve the cognitive-affective skills of the participants, improving their self-knowledge, the management of their feelings, improving the ability to empathize with other women. This workshop will be taught by the teacher Asunción Vidarte.
